When life’s struggles become overwhelming it’s easy to get sucked into a negative mindset. It’s times like these where balance is needed. There will always be an equal amount of good and bad in the world, in your life, and even within yourself. Duality is the nature of our reality. It’s within accepting the light and the dark we can come to peace with it all. Whether it’s pertaining to diet, exercise, relationships, work, school, or any part of your life really, balance is a key factor.
Think about your perspective– do you ever feel like everything bad happens to you specifically? As if some force in the universe wants to make your life especially hard? By placing all of your focus on the negative you are creating a mindset that can only bring more unfavorable outcomes. When you start to understand that everything is relative and there will always be good and bad throughout your life, you can start to be at peace with it– the bad included.
Sometimes we are thrown so many curveballs at once we get lost within the negativity. Subconsciously you might start to feel like everyone and everything is out to get you and nothing is going right. This can cause a sort of confirmation bias where you begin to expect and even look for things to go wrong. This negative mindset will never do you any good and there’s a chance it will only make matters worse. The subconscious mind is a powerful thing and if deep down you feel like you’re going to fail at something or get into an accident, chances are good you will. You are in control of your mind and your mind is in control of your actions.
That’s not to say we should never let ourselves feel bad. It’s important to mourn for a period of time and face your emotions, but always know that for every bad situation there will be a silver lining. Through obtaining an optimistic mindset, we tend to enjoy the good for what it’s worth and deal with the bad by seeing the positive side to it. It’s possible that through a bad situation we can gain insight, strength, or even an opportunity for something great. Life is all about give and take.
There is no clear answer as to why things happen the way they do, but that’s just something we have to come to terms with, each in our own way. Whether it’s through religion, spirituality, or just accepting life for what it is, find what works for you and hold onto it.
